If you have anything at all to do with Second Life modeling, then you will be more than a little aware that AVENUE are currently holding castings . As an AVENUE student it is my ultimate goal to become a model with this prestigious Agency and so I took a lot of care putting together my application for the RIVAL Casting call.
I am not much of a photographer yet and still have so much to learn but I do get by with the basics. Even so, I took a chance and took all my applications photos myself. I’m hoping that my styling is what counts!
My first shot was a face shot and you will have already seen this one as it is currently my blog shot! However I am kind of proud of this one and so it’s going to get a double showing
For this shot I used Truth Hair, Finesmith Jewellery, Izzie’s Lipstick, White Widow Eyemakeup, IKON Eyes and Belleza Skin. I really like the angle I managed to get as I have struggled with head shots in the past. As I said I’m extremely happy with this one and I think it’s one of the best shots I’ve taken to date!
The first styling we were to compose was ‘It’s all in the Details’. We were to take a neutral base as our main outfit and add statement accessories. I had a couple of false starts on this one before coming across this magnificient headpiece from my favourite hatmaker, BaOba. This Flamenco hat was a limited edition release for the Zenshi sim so I snavelled it up! I already had the fans in my inventory from an outfit I’d purchased ages ago and was soooo pleased at how well they went with the hat! The beautiful necklace is a new favourite of mine from Finesmith and I also added the belt from Izzie’s.
I was actually proudest of all of this styling and love how it turned out! I just hope the judges like it also.
The second styling was for New Romantic/New Baroque. Unsure as to whether the ‘/’ was to indicate ‘and’ or ‘or’, I took a real risk and styled as New Baroque. The main reason for this was that I knew that one of my favourite stores, Meghindo’s, had to most amazing range of luxe baroque items that I am constantly drooling over. The dress, jacket and purse I each purchased separately from Meghindo’s. I added Purple Moon Earrings and the eyebrow adornments are from Finesmith. It was hard to find a good angle and this one was not my favourite shot I do admit! But I loved the styling itself and hope that that is seen despite my poor photography skills!
Our final shot was lingerie or swimwear on a neutral background. I read the description very carefully here; it was to be a raw snapshot to simply show our skin and shape clearly. I could have gone all out with backgrounds or poses but ultimately felt that this was the best option to show my features. I am just hoping it is what was expected of me!
AVENUE is perhaps THE most respected and reputed agency in SL and so the calibre of candidates for the RIVAL casting is sure to be very high. However I couldn’t miss the opportunity to apply and know it was good practice and really challenged my styling ability. I wish all the other applicants the best of luck!
