There is a wonderful children’s film produced in Mexico called La Leyenda de la Nahuala. Leo San Juan, a 9-year-old boy, has been terrorized all his life by the scary stories his older brother always taunts him with. Among these stories is “The Legend of the Nahuala”, according to which a house in the neighborhood is possessed by an evil spirit Nahual that took over the body of the family cook. Now, the Nahuala is waiting for the soul of an innocent child and a powerful amulet to be restored to his full power. The adventures occur right around the Day of the Dead in Mexico, where dead ancestors and loved ones are celebrated.

As a Spanish teacher I am thrilled to find relevant and authentic films to show my students, instead of simply showing dubbed Disney films. With this kind of film there is so much more that can be taught than simple grammatical structures.

This beautiful Calavera skin from Nuuna can invoke awe or terror. I bet that family cook wants her body back.

I lived in Paris for almost a year when I was in college. It was quite a change for a western girl like me to be in a city like that. It took awhile for Paris to work its magic on me, but work it did, and it is a city that I love dearly and that has had a great impact on my life.

Barnesworth Anubis’ new skybox reminds me a little of my apartment on Avenue de Ternes, although my little place was not nearly so lovely as this. I did have a wonderful view out my window, however, and it was just as lovely in the rain as not. I wish I had been so glamorous back then, but Maylee Oh and Jackal Ennui are keeping me glamorous now!

I actually had an outfit prepared this week but ended up doing just a head shot, since the new Destiny eyes from Ikon Innovia are the perfect shade. I’m not sure “Bathroom Eyes” is what he had in mind, but that’s what they turned out to be today.

One of my favorite songs is a gorgeous, angst-ridden lament by the great Mexican band Maná. While there is happily no angst for either of us that I know of, it’s still one of the best rain songs ever. You can hear it below.

A suprise thunderstorm sent Stewart and I scurrying for cover this afternoon, and an excellent cover it is.

This looked like a fun one so here goes:

1. I am a total SL profile stalker. I love to read profiles. I even read my friend’s profiles from time to time to see what updates they have made to them. I love to read what people choose to project as their SL self, and the profiles are so varied…some are inspirational, others comical and some downright frightening. But all are so very entertaining!

2. I am a mesh snob. I know there’s a lot still out there that is not mesh that is of good quality, but I confess to sticking my nose in the air about system pieces, except for layering, for which system pieces are still very useful. My best SL friend keeps telling me mesh is not always better, and he may be right, but my nose is going to stay in the stratosphere until I am tripped and rudely brought to earth. But I don’t think badly of people who cling to system clothes. Okay, yes I do, but I am working on it!!!

One of the things that inevitably happens when the weather warms up is that all of a sudden I have to start telling my students that no, school is not a nudist colony and no, I did not get into teaching so that I could tell students every day to for goodness’ sake pull their pants up. You might think this is a female student phenomena, but no.

Not that I am against shorts. I like shorts. Especially these new ones from coldLogic.

One of my favorite items from Collabor88 this round is this adorable shirt from Teefy. It’s still a bit tough to get into Collabor88 at the moment but get over there when you can, I know I will be headed back when the traffic dies down.

Spring has finally made it to the northeastern United States. It was a long time coming, as winter definitely overstayed it’s welcome this  year. I am as big a fan of winter as you’re likely to find, but this year even my patience was tried. Nonetheless, my favorite part of spring is when the dogwood trees bloom, and that is happening all over the place today. There aren’t a whole lot of dogwood options in SL (somebody get on that, will you?), but there are some lovely spring foliage options available to get me through until someone does the dogwood justice.

Collabor88 opened today and Maxi Gossamer has released another beautiful set. Maxi is getting to be quite in-demand at monthly events and it’s easy to see why. My outfit is from the talented Zaara Kohime. Zaara’s designs are consistently of high quality and attractive design. When I get compliments on my outfit, it’s usually because I am wearing Zaara.
