I’m not much for contests, having only done really two other ones prior ({mon tissu} and Glam Affair), but I thought I would try my hand at Truth Hawk’s “TRUTH Model Search” contest in which you can find out all the information HERE. Since it’s pretty well known that Truth has been around eons and most of us have at least 39048320958230582038 of his hairstyles, then you know that he has come out with six brand new looks! I’m showing off Lotus in Ginger04Fade – one of the new textures/colors. It’s a bit different from my Pumpkinpie, but I’ll get used to it.

I sometimes know what I’m going to write about when it comes to blog posts – other times I do not. I had in my mind when I first started doing this picture that I would write about Second Life Real Estate and all it’s glory, then realized that I didn’t want to bore you all to death with silly things such as rentals, owning, getting commercial Mainland or going private. Cause really – that’s not what I do, although having owned a private sim, a homestead, renting on Mainland, renting on RP sims, and currently renting on a private sim – I think I’ve pretty much hit the mark on how it goes about getting space.

But honestly, who wants to listen to that? Sims are expensive commodities. Yes, they cost about $300USD a month. That’s a car payment, a school loan payment. That’s RENT in some places here in the US. $300USD is a lot especially for most people that bring home less than that a week. So, when I hear that people are going to lose their sim because they “can’t afford” it, and it’s so unfair – I shrug my shoulders and move on. There are so many different shades of the color rose. One of them is this gorgeous color rose from Ikon Innovia of IKON for his newest release at this month’s The Boutique! The new “Destiny Eyes” come in many different shades following the youthful presence of the theme Fresh! I paired these gems with then newest release from Elikapeka Tiramisu of [Elikatira] entitled “Youth”. Also, this beautiful beaded necklace and bracelet are from Caelan Hancroft of Cae which can be found at this month’s FaMESHed, along with this flowey chiffon dress from Zaara Kohime of Zaara.

Pictures can say a lot. They can evoke meaning, a feeling, a story, and even…nothing at all. I browse Flickr a lot. I browse the blogs quite a bit as well and I try to find different and unique styles that really give the items a pop or try to tell a story. I guess – when I’m looking at something, I don’t look at the face that often. Rarely does a person’s face change: unless they’ve changed hair color, eyes, or skin tone. I’ve noticed though an ongoing trend that keeps me from wanting to like a pretty decent picture. At first I didn’t realize what I was noticing, then it hit me. It’s the face. I see too much…face.

Now don’t get me wrong – most of the skins on the grid are absolutely gorgeous. They truly are. But if you’re not doing a skin post or are showing…skin (oh la la for sexy naked rawrness) and you’re showing off a new dress, or shoes, or a jewelry set that is a must have, then why am I seeing your face up close and personal? About a week or so ago, I realized that my pictures on iheartsl.com were not sizing down correctly. Although I was seeming to follow the instructions of copy/pasting from Flickr and grabbing the correct size to add to my WordPress blog, the picture was not sizing down to the appropriate one. So, when I finally figured it out and corrected it, something happened. My pictures in my blog downsized. They no longer seemed to fit my blog the way I wanted them too. They didn’t pop out. The theme I use in WordPress enhances my pictures. I choose the style because I wanted to focus on the pictures, the blogging, and my writing. Links are hidden in the pages, so you don’t see them on the sidelines. I choose this way, because this blog was to be about me. That’s fair right?

So where does this leave me? Stipulations about how to get your blog on SL feeds – you need to re-size your photos to fit their blog. I scratched that. I stopped sending my blog over to iheartsl.com. Not because I’m upset with the blog itself, but because I cannot be arsed to manipulate my pictures. Sure people are going to argue that I can do this or that.» View author and full post…
