I’m In a New York State of Mind

I’m partial to Snowpaws for many reasons, but one of the ones at the core of the positive emotions resounds in the relationship I’ve been privileged to develop over time with Carrie Snowpaw.

Way… way… back in time, she supported the Face of Face Paint contest with Eve Express, committing new outfits to the winner(s).

I had peripherally known of Snowpaws for a long time prior to March 2012, but when I won one of the spots at Face Paint thus also winning clothing from Snowpaws, I got to know it a bit more.

Ever since, I have worked with Carrie Snowpaw, writing the weekly blog, posting sales, special events, news and fashion shows she’s done. All the while, besides a business relationship building trust, we also developed a welcome friendship.

She’s one of those people you simply want to know because she exudes a warmth that is genuine, and in her little niche in Second Life, she’s poured out that warmth to so many many people.

Not only does she participate in a half dozen or so special sales events each week, she also joins hunts and makes high quality treasures for those hunts, and then there are all the ways you can win free items.» View author and full post…

Dream a Little Dream of Me

One of the things I changed this year regarding my approach to blogging had to do with taking my show on the road. I did 90% of my shots in a studio environment last year and I got used to the clicks and the whirls and the buttons.

Needless to say, some of the places in Second Life are more open minded than others, and have all sorts of purposes. When I visit a place like I did this morning, and take snapshots quite close to those who are there for other delights, I often find myself in their heads and grin, asking myself unspoken questions, “What’s she doing here?” I’m exploring!

So many things to learn, so many things to process and my thoughts get jumbly at times. That’s okay. I say to this day that boredom is a sin and I have yet to be bored. This outfit was part of what I put together for a casting that required ‘Urban’ wear. When I wanted to photograph it, I sought out urban titles of locations. I love the adventure.

Thank you to Euridice Qork and all the people at Canary Models! I had fun preparing for the casting and happened to wear one of Dot-Be Fashion’s outfits.» View author and full post…

What’s Your Price for Flight?

The challenge was to identify a specific animal then style an outfit that reminded the viewer of the animal in a way that was abstract. I was encouraged not to make use of animal skins (which are hugely popular right now so the temptation was incredible!!

The first time I created the look for this challenge, I went in a completely different direction. In so many ways, I needed to redo the challenge and in that editing process, I had the most fun discovering new designers and utilizing pieces from my past.

I found this imaginative dress by sYs. I’ve never owned anything created by them and I loved thee texture and the flitting bit of fantasy that the skirt imbued. I built the rest of the look around the skirt, and came up with this composition. I’ve had a number of people ask me, “Where did you get that dress?” It’s not a dress. The first in store modeling job I took was modeling for Carrie’s Lingerie. The top comes from Carrie’s Sins Collection. It was a nod to the past, acknowledgement that every dream takes time, but eventually if you determine to make it, that dream WILL take flight.

KR (Kim Rongyu), Artistry by ~E~ and Midweek Madness

I’ve known Kim Rongyu just short of one year and have seen her do just about everything in Second Life related to fashion and the fashion industry, and now she’s added one more success. During the final few months of this year’s Miss Virtual World contest, a contest for which Kim represented Cyprus as MVCyprus, Kim also opened her own store.

During a conversation about her latest endeavor, she shared several items that were part of her store. The Kepi outfit on the left is all mesh, definitely perfect for a business meeting or interview an the chill of this time of year. The Calista dress had multiple patterns and colors, and this one I chose ‘Leaf’ reminded me of brighter seasons, spring and summer, and packing to travel to Casa Blanca for a getaway mid-winter to warm up and have fun. The dress certainly suits such an occasion. The deep green/teal long sleeved Bobbi Knit sweater dress is my favorite of the three. I could see me wearing that dress many places, right this minute. I’d download it to my living room if I could!

Shoes paired with the middle dress come from Felicity and are part of the Midweek Madness sales program.» View author and full post…

A Plethora of Liv-Glam

This week has been a week to catch up with the designers at Liv-Glam and put up many styling options of the releases. If you haven’t been to Liv-Glam to see the 30% discount on EVERYTHING, it’s a deal of the year, and will end today at midnight.

This past week, many new looks were released and here’s a sampling of the mix…

The Charlize showcases a number of layers that all work together to give you a perfect cold weather look…

Monique is another outfit suited well to the cold environment. It had a very similar shirt and lace layer as the Charlize outfit above, so I styled a bit differently with this simple salmon top…

Cherish BodyCon offers the seductive lines of a lovely evening gown that’s cut to tease the eye with more than a wink of skin…

The Maiolaine offers the class of linen with a ruffled bolero, for an elegant date and cocktails or anything else that comes about when your special someone sees you wearing this…

Liv-Glam’s Maxime BodyCon Dress offers another sparkly textured cocktail. The lines are slimming and with thigh high boots, the chill of winter might be held at bay while you kick up your heels…» View author and full post…

Liv-Glam Produces Two New Pair of Boots and a New Jumpsuit

People who know me well or have followed my blog here or one of the blogs I write for Second Life companies know my passion for boots. Every time they appear in the inventory for new items at Liv-Glam, I do a cartwheel, then happy dance. I enjoy the vast choices for clothing as well, and the new jewelry line and ever growing menswear line all make me smile. Boots though= Cheer!

The first pair I show you called Macy’s Stiletto Ankle Boots had the pantone colors built into the HUD making it easy to find the perfect color for one of the free gifts from another store. I could get that garnet red, so perfect and so fashion now. Everyone wears boots with everything. E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G!

The Liske Winter Bow bodysuit and the new Janel Ankle boots looked like they were created to be worn together. The bodysuit has a hemline just below the knee, making the lower leg and foot easier to see. Wearing a dramatic boot like the Janel really stands out with such a pairing. Pantone colors again make it easy for me to choose what colors and how to match them. Some of us might be slightly color challenged, so having the pantones pre-programmed into the HUD certainly makes my life easier!» View author and full post…

Carrie’s Lingerie: Lina

I’ve come a long way since my debut as a store model for Carrie’s Lingerie. I pulled out the old shape that she and her manager Naughty Princess helped choose for me. I had so many things to learn and working with Carrie and her staff for a little more than 6 months impacted my world in ways I couldn’t see then but now in retrospect, I see how valuable it was and how much it’s helped to make me who and what I am today.

I loved the job, meeting new people, and the lingerie was beautiful then and even more so with each passing month as the designer improves with each new creation. At Carrie’s I had a lot to learn, and my first big ‘OOPS’ that ended up with a negative parting. I made two serious decisions at that point. First, I realized that my name, as a model, as an assistant, as a friend… my name means something and when I disappointed the staff at Carrie’s, I did not represent their name well in that moment, but I also did not represent my name very well. I do not work in the fashion industry to get rich or famous.» View author and full post…

Baboom Offers a New Release Plus a Special Christmas Dress

Each designer I work with leaves their mark in my life in a wonderfully positive way. Kyra Camel creates all the clever items for sale at Baboom. Wicca Merlin manages the store. Every time I work to set up a photo for Baboom, I have Wicca’s voice in my head from a modeling class I had once, where she identified herself as “Prim Police”. They both work together to challenge and pull the very best I can offer from me and I feel so lucky to work with both of them.

The Mesh Dress in white has several options for wear, making it versatile, and offering pieces in this collection that you might end up using with other favorite Baboom pieces. I received a mesh jacket and mesh pencil skirt. I also received boots that rocked! To wear under the jacket, there are several options. A black lace top and a silver top are both included. I put the black lace on first, then the silver shirt, and realized that I had 3 different ways to wear the layers.

A good friend took me to a place called the Mad Hattery where they’d generously left a new hat for a holiday gift under their tree.» View author and full post…

EMO-tions: All That You Feel.. Make Every Day a Holiday

Several different hair styles came to EMO-tions this week. The assorted styles run the gamut from the most refined to the wild side.

This first one, called Resolution, looks extremely refined. Pins and combs and what looks like a small tiara come as part of the hair. I think it’s supposed to remind me to make my new year’s resolutions. Just haven’t quite decided what they might be yet.

Starline provides a much different style. I have never had my hair braided like this but when I visited the Bahamas, I met some women who could do such a hair style in a matter of minutes. Our world grows smaller as travel becomes easier. Different heritage, different skin tone, different peoples, they all blend together. To me, it’s a wondrous time to live in and observe such blending of societies. So many people across the globe could wear their hair like this. I truly liked the world wide perspective I received when I worked with this new style.

This last style, Anaconda, comes with a huge selection of ways to wear the hair from the twisted updo that’s seen in the photo to a very wild and vibrant style that suits the jungles of the Amazon, reminding me of the incredible history of the Amazonian women in a time period where women almost never ruled anything, anyone, anywhere, yet these women did.» View author and full post…

*RnB* Designs and Demise in flight pose…

This amazing exclusive item, from *RnB* hit close to home. I think artistry runs in every vein I’m related to off line, and I’ve learn to really stop and appreciate modern art, even the pieces I don’t quite understand.

Me in my self-portrait shows the purple from the cute little set of minis available from Demise in Flight in several colors. I found some great boots and leggins, a black undershirt and black poncho and I was ready to look like a painter even if my picture ended up looking like finger paints in first grade!
