21 Shoe: KC Couture

These gorgeous shoes that I’m trying to fly off with are from KC Couture, and they are simply too much shoe for little fae hands! KC is giving us two very different styles for 21 Shoe, which is always a lot of fun! Both shoes come equipped for just about every foot on the grid – Belleza, Maitreya, SLink, and The Mesh Project.

On the left are some fun, grommet highlighted heels called Destiny, with an open weave design over the feet and incredibly pointed toes. One amazing touch is that each grommet has a bare heart, just like grommets usually do – if you look closely, you can see little fae fingers through the top right hole! I love attention to detail like that. The spacing of the bands is particularly nice, two groups of two which make a pleasant set of triangles over the skin when you wear them, or against the wall when the light is shining on them as they tumble down through the air.

On the right are a pair of sleek, diagonally wrapped shoes called Sinsual. They are made in black and gold with some delicate patterning on the gold to give it a sense of depth. I also quite like the gold stitches along the edges of the black, setting it apart from a simple black shoe. The heel is a great deal narrower than Destiny, and overall the profile is sleeker and more formal.Once again, the way the bands are put together is interesting – with two wider bands of black and gold flanking a much narrower one with a lovely curving effect over the top of the foot.

Both shoes combine space and leather in fantastic ways and they are excellent addition to any formal wardrobe. Make sure to swing by KC Couture on the 21st to pick these up, two for the price of one.

Mr. X and the Giraffe Women… new find at – Baboom Couture Fashion for Change

Previously posted @ Perceptions Sita Writer.

A vision of exotic… hot sands… a burning sun like desire.  Intricate batik pattern are sublimation textured on this gorgeous Asian sensation  by Baboom Couture called Mandala.  Batik originates in Java, Mr. X and I love to watch this exquisite dyeing process where a wax resistant dye is applied in lavish designs of dots and lines allowing the artist to select a fanciful selection of colors making each hand batiked piece a treasure for years to come.

I remember the day Mr. X and I wandered the lanes behind the Taman Sari water castle in Java a former royal garden of the Sultan of Yogyakarta… a bathing area where the concubines would bathe while waiting for the sultan’s choice… hmmm Mr. X liked that idea….

The necklace of Mandala is like the necklaces worn by the Kayan women of northern Thailand and Burma, yes, I say Burma, not Myanmar.  The Kayan tribe has a custom where women that wear the “rings” around their necks create an appearance of a long neck — sometimes called giraffe women. Coils can weigh up to 25 pounds and depress the shoulders and chest.. they don’t really make the neck longer… some  women enjoy upholding this tradition, others feel pressured to endure the painful custom to make a living….. as an estimated 40,000 tourists pay $ 8-$ 16 to stop by the hill tribe villages in Thailand to gaze upon these women and take a photo.  It all comes down to ethics; for me this arrangement makes me uncomfortable.

Dear Readers,

Can’t believe what I decided to do but I moved my blog back to wordpress.com (URL stays the same). I’ve had a couple of people asking me where my wordpress follow button went over time. Well on wordpress.org you don’t have that option. I always thought it would be better to switch but one can only learn by trying.

In my 6th blog for Fashion For Change, I’m showing you a piece by KL Couture that I couldn’t resist to blog. The Fashion for Chance is accessible so you can go out and get this outfit including jewelry as we speak. Fashion for Change Event for Womankind Worldwide runs from April 11th to April 25th.

What is Womankind Worldwide? It’s a charity organisation based in the UK. International Women’s Rights charity works to help women transform their lives and communities in Africa, Asia and Latin America and they have been doing this over 25 years.

So what do they do? Let’s take this for an example: Afghanistan – In Jalalabad WW helped a legal aid center run by a local Women’s Organization to provide free legal support to 175 women, psycho social support to 70 women/girls and basic health treatment to 46 women.

China Empress Couture! MISS SL

Inspiration:

“The dress, created by Kiddo Oh for Dead Dollz, gave me the idea for the whole outfit. A traditional chinese ensemble look, revised by the modern and sophisticated trends of the RL designer assigned for the challenge: Abineri Ang. I tried to mix the Empress Couture of the Golden Age of Imperial China with the fabrics shown on the Jakarta Fashion Week catwalk, especially paying attention to the colors and the precious stones applied on the dresses. To complete the outfit I’ve added some details of China traditional symbols, as the dragon, the lanterns and the water lilies. I hope I have been able to empress you all!”

Fashion for Change 2015 – Haute Couture goes Ethnic

Sim sized Two Week Fashion and Entertainment Event in aid of Womankind Worldwide. Organised by MVW 2015 Eleseren Brianna, with support from BOSL. Runs 11th-25th April, 42 fabulous Designers, 4 Fashion Shows, live entertainers and DJs, Grand Finale Auction, Miss Colour of Couture Runway Challenge, all in a stunning tropical setting. 100% of donations go to Womankind Worldwide.

Around the world women come together – often at great personal risk – to challenge discrimination. They work within communities to enable the most marginalised women and girls to understand, and have the confidence, to claim their rights and improve their lives. This work not only takes great courage, it requires resources too. This is the work of women’s rights organisations.

Womankind delivers the essential support – funding, expertise, contacts and publicity that these local grass roots women’s organizations need to amplify their voice, increase their impact and bring about greater change in their communities.

Fashion For Change is an opportunity for us in SL to support Womankind Worldwide as they help women for generations to come.
