Great Places to Shoot

E is for Eellogofusciouhipoppokunurious (Thanks, Arora!)

I noticed when doing my credits for this post that I have two “E” items which had me asking plurk for more. . The first is this cute leather mini from E! (see the exclamation point) which is Eclectic Apparel, the work of Eclectic Wingtips. It comes with a hud that allows you to change the metal findings from gold to silver to black and back. You also can change the upper “belt/sash” portion with several color and print options. It’s sassy and short and just the perfect choice for the new ruffled top from La Penderie de Nicole, which also comes with options, including black with several choices in contrast ruffle lining.

I found one small problem with the skirt when I walked. It did not get along with my walk animation. I talked to Eclectic Wingtips, the designer, who has made a longer alpha so that if your AO and the skirt conflict, you can add the longer alpha. Wingtips prefers to keep the alpha as short as possible to give you more options when taking pictures.

The shoes from MiaMai are adorable with cute anklets that can be changed with the accompanying hud.

A heavy gold chain necklace from Lassitude and Ennui (yes an ‘E’) balance the ruffles.» View author and full post…

Tango

May16_005

I am just home from a long day at the hospital for some tests, so this will be short and sweet. The dress is a gorgeous easily draped long shift with an easy bateau neckline. By Nylon Pinkney of Nylon Outfitters, it can be found at this month’s Collabor88. It comes in this sunshine yellow or a rainy blue – both lovely abstract prints that are works of art.

May16_001

The shoes are from BSD Design Studio, the high fashion, gloriously avant shoes of BabySass Champagne.

May16_006

The jewelry includes necklace and earrings from Kunglers featuring their usual organic inspiration. The bird ring is from Paper Couture and the big bangle with large chunks of amber is from Leverocci. May16_007

Belleza’s Tricky Boucher made some of his boldest makeup ever for The Liaison Collaborative. The hair is from Truth and he has come out with all new colors included fades in every shade.

Hello there! :)

*suddenly enters the room, visibly excited, waving at everyone*

Hello folks, Olela is back :)

RL kept me really busy the last three months, lots of things happened, i’ve also moved. I missed SL, i missed blogging, i missed you! Now i’m back and my inventory seems sooo poor and full of old stuff, but this problem will be fixed soon with lots of shopping which has already started. It feels so good, oh yeah! :D

I received an amazing dress from the talented Aliza Karu, it’s one of her latest releases and i love it so much that i’ve decided to wear it in the first snaps i’ve taken after my return.

Covetousness

It’s called Covetousness, it’s mesh and also comes with sculpted skirt and hat which i’m not wearing in the picture. Aliza never stops amazing me!

Trust me

The adorable skin is the Pink Fuel item from the With Love hunt, the lovely hair is Ramona from esk-imo.

I took these snaps at Lea1 and played a bit with the Phototools settings, one of the new veeery interesting features of the latest Firestorm Major release.

I hope you’ll enjoy them, as much as my look :)

I’ll be back soon with some other wonderful stuff to show you, yayyyy!» View author and full post…

Christmas comes to New York

My Barnesworth Anubis NYC Skybox Apartment, that is! This has to be my favorite skybox yet by Mr. Anubis. I fell in love with his skyboxes when I bought one at Collabor88 a while back and now I have a kind of crazy fascination with them.

I’ve just put the finishing touches on my holiday decorations and I thought I would share with you….

NY Apt 3

Nothing is better than spending the day relaxing by a fire after working so hard to put all those decorations out….
More after the cut….

NY Apt 2

Little touches of Christmas can be seen everywhere throughout the apartment.

NY Apt 1

By far my favorite find this year are these gorgeous mesh poinsettia’s from the Terrashop at World of Wood.

In a World of Gray

oct24_003

When I unpacked the gorgeous vintage-styled Vale dress from Donna Flora, I knew I wanted to style myself completely in black and white. A noir avatar in a pixel world. The effect was a fun combination of chic and shriek that had me heading to Silent’s haunted house for some pictures. The dress is a classic fitted bodice with a tulip skirt. Its most vintage elements come from the bolero jacket with the wide rounded lapels and the puffed shoulders. The floral corsage pin adds a bit more retro styling.

oct24_006

The triple-bowed Lily court shoes from Miamai areGorgeous and so striking with the huge bows on the heel counter, their exaggerated shape drawing your eyes.

oct24_008

Mesh hands from SLink make wearing rings and bracelets a delight. There are fairly easy to tint, though if you bring your graphics down while you move around and decide where to post and so on, they can be disconcerting. I was trying to figure out why I had this flicker on my screen before I remembered that I had to turn my graphics back up.

Jewelry from Donna Flora in black and white maintain the monotone styling.

A Cathedral of Light

Oct13b_009

Throughout history, cathedrals were designed to inspire awe and wonder through the power of light streaming in through windows – whether stained glass story windows or as at Memento Mori, through the flood of unfiltered sunlight.  Any visitor to ChouChou’s Memento Mori will experience that sense of awe and wonder that lent such power to the medieval church.  When I put on this stunning waterfall of a gown from Azul, I knew that I wanted to shoot it on the cascading stairs at Memento Mori in a bath of sunlight.

Oct13b_004

Mami Jewell of Azul is the High Priestess of romantic gowns that shimmer, ripple and dance in the the light. This gown has a particularly long train, though those prims can be left off at your discretion if you’re attending a ball and don’t want to crowd the floor with the munificence of your train.

Oct13b_011

The gown comes with matching gloves. The body of the gown is made with a rich silk charmeuse and comes with a lovely sheer gossamer bodice with a lovely tone-on-tone print.

Oct13b_012

I wore the simple Knotted Hair updo from Lelutka and a delightfully baroque parure from Donna Flora.

Oct13b_014

The skin is PXL Creations VIP Gift released on October 12th.» View author and full post…

Chinoiserie and Marie Antoinette

oct13_018

The recent release of the Shelby Doll Dress from VoguE put me in mind of Marie Antoinette. She was a huge promoter of Chinese art and the style of Western decor infused with Chinese sensibility called Chinoiserie. Chinoiserie is a French world meaning China-esque, a cultural appropriation that has produced amazing design in home decor and fashion.

oct13_014

Where better to shoot this bit of chinoiserie than at its natural home, Versailles, where Louis XIV, XV and XVI all found it a compelling complement to the Rococo style of the palace. With the intricacy of the dress, I opted for the simple, but chic Coquette pumps from N-Core.

oct13_020

As you can see, the dress has completely Western form, cut in the baby doll style. The halter style neckline, the epaulettes, the dress are all completely Western while the fabric’s rich gold, intricate embroidery and the emblem on the bodice are fully Chinese in style. This fusion of Chinese sensibility with Western form is the epitome of chinoiserie which was never about wholesale appropriation, but more about syncretism and synthesis.

oct13_023

It seemed fitting, to me, to honor the French roots of chinoiserie with the fabulous wig from Paper Couture. It’s quite old and no longer available.» View author and full post…

Nyu York, Nyu York

Oct06 c_003

If you can make it there, you can make it – anywhere. Nyu York, Nyu York!

Actually, I am not at the New York sim and I know that’s a terrible pun, but I could not resist. I have a weakness for bad puns.

What is true, though, is I am wearing Nyu’s fabulous trench coat and set for the winter rains. You can find it at the FaMESHed October showcase. The coat comes in leather and wool and in just about every color you could want. I chose pink because I was thinking it’s been a while since I wore something pink. Besides, it looks so good with the hotness that is…

Oct06 c_002

the new Equestrienne boots from GOS. Are they not the hottest thing since sliced bread? They are highly polished leather boots in a classic style that is oh-so flattering. They come in a pack of neutral and autumnal colors and make a great investment addition to your wardrobe as there will be so many things you can wear them with.

oct06 c_004

I added a cute, short cut from Dura and some old, old earrings from DeLa. My skin is PXL Creations FAITH – with some lip and eye shadow tattoos.» View author and full post…

Baroque Beauty

oct06_004

Giz Seom of Gizza has produced a trio of gorgeous baroque outfits with gorgeous lace blouses and sexy pencil skirts. Never afraid to shy away from mixing prints, the lace of the skirt works beautifully with the quilted waist and the rich brocade skirt.  The lovely bit of chrysanthemum at the collar give it a perfect touch of Old World aesthetics while the sheer blouse and matching visible bra makes it fully modern.

oct06_002

I decided to add the new ankle boots from Baiastice to emphasize the modern elements like the waistband and belt.

oct06_008

Meanwhile the hairstyle from Dura and the fabulous earrings from Donna Flora play off the old world elements. The earrings are in a fun Gacha with the same earrings in an array of gorgeous colors. The makeup is a fabulous older skin from Lelutka – but still so gorgeous and still a GEM.
