Hangout
Hidden Faces @ Nitroglobus Gallery
With this exhibit bearing the title “Hidden Faces” the party was themed with masks, veils, hats and other similar items as the order of the day. Everyone looked fabulous! I had a bit of trouble deciding whether to be silly and just stick a paper bag over my head or go for something a little more proper.
As my gorgeous girlfriend – pictured with me here – went to the trouble of putting such a splendid outfit together for the evening I thought that a paper bag was out of the question so ended up going for something at least somewhat more formal that I am used to wearing.
The evening ended up being a double celebration as it was my good friend, and gallery manager, Dido’s rez day! I think I can safely say everyone that attended really enjoyed themselves listening to great music from DJ Lex, and watching pretty light shows that appeared out of thin air before disappearing again.» View author and full post…
Holo-Kitties! Mod for Blue Galaxian Feline Avatar
I wish I had the know-how and skill to create mods for avatars. Not just the one I’m wearing here but others I have too. I think it would be great to have a “one off” style to strut around in and perhaps it’s something I’ll get around to at least trying at some point. Until that day comes, if it ever does, it’s not a huge problem because there are plenty of talented people making absolutely cracking mods for the BG feline avatar and other furry critters as well.
The one shown in the pictures here comes from Winry’s Whimsey and is something I have had my eye on for quite some time. The biggest problem I had was picking which colour to get because I’m terribly indecisive like that. Even that isn’t a very good excuse though when they’re so reasonably priced at just L$299 each, but there we go!
SMARTMESH – Chillie – Rider Jacket
I’m finding myself with a rapidly expanding collection of mesh clothing in my inventory – just like most people no doubt. I do love me some meshy goodness, but there are a couple of things I don’t like about it too. One is having my inventory clogged up with at least 6 different sizes of the same thing with (almost) every purchase I make. Second is the constant ‘mini tweaks’ I’m having to make to various bits of my shape so that it fits properly.
I’m hoping my mini gripe with mesh will end up becoming a thing of the past in the not too distant future with the introduction of SMARTMESH™. This very aptly named new type of mesh adapts to fit your shape which means you only need a single “One size fits all” item in your inventory.» View author and full post…
Cica @ Nitroglobus Gallery
Last night my fabulous friends Dido and Nitro hosted a pre-new years eve party at their gallery. It was wonderful as always to see both new and familiar faces pop by to join in the fun. While dancing the night away we were surrounded by an absolutely spectacular art installation from the talented Cica Ghost.
As I said last night, walking into the gallery is like being transported into drawing. It reminded me a little bit of a scene from a movie I have fond memories of from my childhood, only without the bright colours. At one point in Mary Poppins Bert, Mary, Michael and Jane all jump into a chalk drawing done by a London street artist and ‘live’ inside the picture for a while, riding carousel horses in a race, meeting and dancing with penguins and a whole bunch of other fun stuff.
During a visit to the Nitroglobus Gallery» View author and full post… you’ll find yourself completely immersed in the art. Everywhere you look you’ll see animated images of stick figures, animals, flowers and trees that all seem to have their own little story. There is a man playing music in the wind, a cat sitting by a tree, a little guy riding a push bike and so, so much more.
Memories, Dreams, Reflections.
A new art exhibit has just recently opened at UnitArt – MagnetiZe with featured artists Gitu Aura and Talullah Winterwolf. Please believe me when I say it is well worth a visit. A lot of the art on display has been created to capture a moment, dream or emotion on canvas leading each piece to have a great deal of personal meaning to its creator.
In a notecard available at the exhibit Talullah tells us:
“In this collection, the majority of works explore dreams, childhood memories and feelings, but each one contains an emotion I was feeling strongly at the time.
I have tried to capture that feeling in the images., and in doing so have realised that the very effect of layering the images and textures is suggestive of the way our memories are layered on top of each other and each whole is the sum of many parts.”
On her “Reflection of Thoughts” works Gitu says:
“ …. i was siting near window…watching outside….the rain drops were falling down calm…and gentle….
my mind was far away…i saw your face on the glass…your sad eyes…your deep eyes…they were calling me:
“come with me…”
….i have closed my eyes…but i still saw the same vision – you…”
I was lucky enough to be invited to the opening party of this wonderful exhibit by none other than Gitu herself.
Baffled Kitties – Time to Play
I was checking out the events posted on the Seraphim Blog a couple of days ago and saw that there is another shop due to close soon. I decided to hop over and take a look at products I could pick up at rock bottom prices. Everything at Baffle has been reduced down to just L$55 which is insanely cheap when you account for the quality of the items there.
As I had a look around a few things caught my eye including the skyboxes which you can test drive on the demo platform before purchase. I was amazed by the quality of them and grabbed a couple.
While I’m quite happy with my SL home I am going to get plenty of use out of these boxes. I think the one I am showing here – Le Petit Reve - will serve wonderfully as a little studio and backdrop for my blog pictures when I’m feeling lazy or don’t have time to find setting.
While I was rezzing my new sky box to have a look at it I was joined by my good friend and the most adorabubble neko I ever did meet.. Elliecat!
We always have bundles of fun when we’re together and today we were playing with houses.
The ElderGoth – Day of the Dead Party.
The first contest of the night was “Best in Bones” which made the decision much easier. I’d picked up this awesome mesh skeleton avatar from Plausible Body which was a perfect match. The free avatar comes with modify permissions which means you are able to set the transparency to whatever you fancy, add glow and/or full bright, change the colour, basically fiddle with it to make it unique to you. I really appreciate it when creators do that.
There was a wonderful party atmosphere created by every one in attendance. The DJ’s were spinning some great tunes; some of which I hadn’t heard for ages and plenty of which I found myself singing along to. Thank goodness for voice being optional otherwise I think I’d have scared everyone away!
Carneval Time!
There is so much to do, see and hear at the MadPea Carneval that I couldn’t resist taking another trip there earlier today. Rather than mess around with my windlight settings like last time I left it set at the region default and off I went to explore some more.
MadPea Carneval
The MadPea Carneval is now open. Are you brave enough to walk through the jaws of death into a park where what awaits you are things you thought you’d only ever see in your nightmares?
“The stale smell of air and the nearly tangible sensation of despair will make you want to turn back before even entering. Your throat feels tight and eyes are watering, trying their best to adjust to the dustiness. Deep inside you know already that death lurks around here, yet you’re mesmerised and unable to run away. The calls of dancing souls have captured your mind and you feel the sudden urge to dive in to unite with them. What you don’t realise is that, I am and you are, one of them already”
This is another amazing build brought to us by the talented Madpeas and you can tell from the moment you step inside that a tremendous amounts of love, dedication, sweat and tears have gone into bringing it from a concept to life for us to enjoy.
I would advise keeping the sim windlight setting active during your first visit so that you can truly sink into the atmosphere created by the sounds and various shades of sepia and grey.
Frightened Out Of My Skin
And now there is nothing left but bones. I knew I should have steered clear of that ghost train but curiosity got the better of me once again.
Just a quick post this evening to show off another absolutely amazing Halloween freebie – This time from Plausible Body . You can pick up the avatar for nothing, or leave a donation to show your appreciation if you feel inclined to do so.
This avatar has been created using mesh and is customisable as far as the level of transparency and colour you want your skeleton to be goes. All you need do is drop the mesh object on the ground, go into ‘edit mode’ and fiddle with it until you have something you’re happy with.
Until next time,
Kooky.
