The Tower: Was a quickly put up build (it opened December 2) and is symbolic of  restrictive areas, of closed minds, of self limitations and the like with a fabled, fairytale air.

EXPLORER AT THE RUINS

I put on my Explorer hat and went over to the LEA sims to see Marcus Inkpen’s installation before it packs up in a couple of days. I wasn’t disappointed. The rich, atmospheric textures are something you shouldn’t miss. If you aren’t trying to photograph an outfit, get into the environmental settings and tinker. Wow.

The mood is not left to chance or the Lab’s shadow settings, but is baked into every piece. these Escheresque reflecting spheres revolve slowly, peacefully, almost inviting you to stop, sit down, and meditate. Still photos don’t really convey the feeling, so you should see it yourself.

And yes, I am featuring several gorgeous stuffs I picked up at Vintage Fair. The luscious Moira Skin, perfect for redheads. Plastik’s lovingly antiqued corset. LeeZu’s crinkle-textured cropped jacket, with a flamboyant flipped-up collar. And Ison brought their all-the-way-up-to-there leather platform boots.

Corset: Plastik “Daunting Fate” (mesh)(Vintage Fair)
Cropped Jacket: LeeZu “Lana” (Vintage Fair)
Boots: Ison “Carazon” (mesh)(Vintage Fair)
Pants: Silentsparrow “(Copper) Severin Suit Pants”
Hat: LeLutka “Safari Hat”
Hair: booN “KOKU99″ (unrigged mesh bangs)(all colors for L$10!)
Hairbase: booN “Gathered Raised Hairbase”
Skin: Essences “Moira” (Vintage Fair)
Eyes: Ikon “Horizon”
Lashes: Glow Studio “Innocent. eyelashes – pure”
Cosmetics: Eyeliner and Lipstick by Essences (Vintage Fair)
Poses: by Frooti and Label Motion
Location: The Returning by Marcus Inkpen (LEA17)

Love,
Serene

LEA 2

Further Along the Path: Is a sequel to “The Path,” a collaborative project brought together last year. In the words of Bryn Oh, it “is an immersive project based around the exquisite corpse concept sometimes used by the Surrealists.  Essentially, each artist adds to a composition in sequence.” Windlight is central to the displays, and a notice in the beginning area encourages people to view it via the Firestorm viewer so the Windlight changes can be seamless. The teleport between different displays is the telephone in each scene, but a notecard containing links can be gotten at the beginning area and I have added links to each one after the names of the artists. The artists involved are, in order: Glyph Graves, paramparamm Papp, Alpha Auer, Bryn Oh, Oberon Onmura, Eupalinos Ugajin, Ux Hax and romy Nayar, and Ub Yifu.

The ocean is a desert with its life underground

apr11_007

One of the most enigmatic songs of all time popped into my head while trying to conjure up a title for this post. I was sim-hopping through the many Linden Endowment for the Arts sims and stopped off at one (LEA17) that struck me as having a gorgeous, high desert atmosphere that might be fun for playing around with shadows. I used the Barcelona windlight setting though I fiddled around with the time of day and where east was relative to the sim just to arrange the lighting more conveniently. My outfit was great for trekking about – though that Maitreya top actually has a long, draping open back.

The pants are a fabulous pair of beautifully textured summer wool. And there’s available from Ingenue at Collabor88, so you should hop over to get them right away. They come in a FAB FIVE mix of colors. These are great mix and match pants.

I wore good hiking boots from Leverocci, not wanting to turn my ankle on the plants and rocks and things. Now, I had to increase the size of the shoes by 10% using the resize script so the mesh of the pants did not show through. Given that fitting one mesh piece with another can be a real headache, I thought that was a minor adjustment.» View author and full post…
