Quiet… Just a Little Longer
Just when I thought I had everything shifted into a new modus operandi, things change again. I celebrate the graduation of one son from college this coming weekend. The other comes home tomorrow and isn’t sure he’s going back to college. The world was quiet, for a little while, and it will be, but only a little longer.
As I perched in this tranquil setting, I pondered this loss of peace and return to full time parenting, I was thankful for the refuge that blogging and modeling has given me. I know we all escape into games or television series or Second Life, for a little vacation from reality. Even more so when our reality challenges us. I had a great time working with Baboom!’s newest release and these amazing heels from {{BSD}}. I happened to receive an array of items all at once that looked as if they were designed to make one outfit, and I celebrated. The jewelry and hair from EMO-tions rounded out the look as I braced for the wave of reality to sweep in close and knock me to the ground. Where’s the life vest? I need one nowww…

Mirror Mirror On the Wall
So much of what we do in the fashion industry is subjective. What works for one setting may not even come close to fitting another setting. Opinions run rampant and it can be just as easy to find empty praise as it is to hear destructive criticism. I took a break from preparing for the Face of October semi-finals by doing this collaborative styling. From head to toe, everything in this photo relays someone besides my normal ‘me.’
There are two new shapes from Scandelicious, new skin and outfit from Mirror’s Enigma and jewelry from {{BSD}}. Sometimes when I look in the mirror, I don’t see myself at all, and I think it helps me when I focus intensely to share myself in other settings. All of it helps me grow in this modeling choice I’ve made for my Second Life.

The Lazy Sunbather
Those of you who know me know how preposterous it is for me to call myself a lazy sunbather, but I looked up lyrics and found this sad little song about lazy sunbathers and it stuck in my head.
The diversity at *Diamond Style* continues to make me smile. I’ve been working with them for about a month now and have seen everything from lingerie to fancy gowns to this sexy mesh swimsuit. And I’ve only begun to know this designer. I know there’s more to come. Meanwhile, I did pause for a rare few minutes at a beach on a towel to take this photo. Lazy? For a half second anyway.

When You Hang Out…
This weekend, I got to hang out with the fellas who’ve put over two months of effort into planning Mens Wear Fashion Week. The shows I’ve been to so far have been great, and I know they’ll run all week and into the weekend next weekend. It’s exciting to me to be able to do something I love and get paid for it. How lucky is that?
The show stages have been unique and special to the theme of the designer, and each fresh look draws attention in a positive way to influence spring sales and support of these businesses in our Second Life. That’s Alon next to me and I know he’s put enormous time into this special week long event. Thanks for including me!
And when it was time to lay back, “Easy like a Sunday morning…” I kicked back and listened to the water fall at a favorite club. The stunning Fierce Model shoes from {{BSD}} entranced me when I got them and I couldn’t wait to wear them. The small clutch came as a gift from the store as well. Otherwise, I’m in a very casual outfit and enjoying the quiet energy of this locale.
Whether I hang out with friends or by the rush of a beautiful waterfall, I have a great time in Second Life, a place where I love to be whole and real and me.» View author and full post…
It’s Not Easy Being Green…
I grew up during a time where network television offered limited programming and every so often, there were specials. Every year, we tuned it to watch Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Mary Poppins and The Muppet Show. Those specials often meant we could stay up later, and enjoy a family night.
My favorite among the specials and shows aimed at young people was the Muppet Show. An entire set comprised of puppets of all shapes and sizes entertained us once a week. Though they were furry monsters with friendly smiles on their face, they had surprisingly human conflicts. In a song written for the famous “Kermit the Frog”, Kermit emotes that it’s not easy being green. I think maybe a bigger message came through that sweet innocent little tune. It’s not easy being different.
In my world off line, I have dealt with physical handicaps all my life. There were times I had tubes still attached when I was sent home from a hospital, and always new scars from surgery. I stood out, in my family, in my immediate group of friends; the song resonated in my head. It’s not easy being green. On a side note, when I get to wear beautiful designs in Second Life, from the incredible hair at MADesigns to the beautiful top from ::B:U:B:: as well as the sweet mesh mini from Demise of Flight, I get to be normal.» View author and full post…
Chantilly Lace and a Pretty Face
I get the most unique array of little things to blog in blogger packs. The other day, I received a special sculpt for the mouth, and when it was worn, it stuck my avi’s tongue out to show a gummy bear on my tongue. I love the playful along with the serious fashion. Sometimes I get a whole pack of items designed to match so the consumer doesn’t have to work too hard to match shoes and jewelry with the outfits they buy.

Sometimes I want to see what I can do with pieces from multiple sources, but I also want to show you what the designer created when they made a recent release, so I came up with this idea, shown above in the photograph. I can style an outfit with pieces that mix and match, and show versatility, and also show you the original pack.» View author and full post…
Not Where It Ends… This Is Just a Beginning
There are ways of looking at life where things that are ending really means they are just beginning. I remember finally understanding Algebra, then in the fall, Calculus was required. When I graduated from High School, College began.
I finally reached my goal of graduating from MVWA. I find it exciting, but only the beginning of becoming a polished, recognized and respected model. This new phase takes just as much concentration and as much passion as well. I’ve been styling for a year now, intentionally beginning blogging so I would have multiple points of view from designers to practice with and ultimately because I simply loved blogging! I look at this new outfit by [[Massoom]] and the great poses from Demise of Flight and I think to myself, what a wonderful gift to be given, the opportunity to represent these creative people. Each time I go to a casting, or enter a contest or anything else related to our fashion world in Second Life, I know I grow and improve. This is just the beginning. Hang on to your hats, its going to be a wild ride!

All the Small Things
It’s the little things in life that make the difference. Our brains map details like the pixels are a map of color our Second Life paints. You have to zoom in very very close to see each shade and even then our brains cannot really process 16 billion bits of data so we think we see red and blue and yellow.

Some would say the games we play online, including Second Life, are just trifles, things to entertain, things that aren’t really important but I have to disagree. I may not be able to see 16 billion color distinctions but I know that if they weren’t there, my world would be far more dull. I also know that my Second Life is like those billions of undetectable nuances in color, and all of the experiences I have here do make an impact.» View author and full post…
My Final Final from Miss Virtual World Modeling Academy
What an insane and amazing experience this past year has been, beginning at Face Paint as a new face, eager and so unprepared for this modeling world til now, finally certified officially as a model. I began working in Face Paint approximately 1 year and 1 month ago. I landed in what can only be described as the perfect petri dish for someone who really wanted to become a Second Life model.
I registered for Miss Virtual World’s Academy shortly after joining Face Paint but was quite unsure of myself. Seasoned models offered advice that I wasn’t ready yet for MVW, and reluctantly I took their advice – something I’m so so glad I did now in retrospect – and enrolled in the classes for the matriculation in August. If you scroll through my history on this blog, you can see comments regarding this big step.
I went through 105 graduation at the end of August and really didn’t think I’d graduate. I knew from peers that they really only allowed polished models to graduate and I was just beginning. As I expected, I did not graduate. I went back in November and again in February of 2013. Each time, I learned new things, observed, tried, failed, felt a thousand emotions and at one point after try #3, I was sure I should give up my modeling dream.» View author and full post…
The Call of the Wild
Regardless where I travel in Second Life, I find multiple definitions of what ‘WILD’ is and how people approach wild to have fun, play and run with their imagination. The Fairy Glen is a new garden on a friend’s sim and I was invited to see it. The gorgeous rich colors came out of places like Lewis Carroll’s Wonderland, over the top, beautiful and wild.
At Face Paint, several different series have approached ‘WILD’ with different points of view. Last year, the call of the wild played with animal prints and makeup. This spring, the geometric starkness of white and black inspired this new Sinister #1 checkered look. Paired with a new style from EMO-tions, Chevia partially hides the eyes and offers an air of mystery that also plays into this wild wide world.
