Having been a part of Second Life for five years, AVENUE unceasingly evolves and grows, in order to continually be able to support and showcase creative and cutting edge Fashion Designers.
With this in mind AVENUE FASHION WEEK S/S 2013 aims to produce a week of shows that support both the newer BLOOM and the established VANGUARD Designer. Climaxing in a unique Haute Couture show, where some of the best fashion artists in Second Life, showcase one exclusive, exquisite piece.

The Fabic of the City…
Hello gentle readers! Tonight I was warring with myself a bit. Go dancing or blog. Well Writing my blog won as you will soon see. This evening I am going to talk about a rather exciting collection from Shiki. Now I have to tell you that I met two of the sweetest guys in Second Life at Shiki – the owner Shinichi Mathy, and an amazing artist Vinn Wong. Both of these guys are total gentlemen and I always enjoy our conversations so much.
Tonight I want to tell you about Shiki’s Urban Symmetry line in general and the Urban Web Solar Heat dress specifically. The line was inspired by urban life – those object we see around us in everyday life suddenly become the texture for incredible fabrics and styles. Another key feature that makes this style totally unique is an asymmetric angular bodice that is featured in a few different styles throughout the collection. .
I love this dress. The styling is just superb, and as with all Shiki creations the textures are to die for. Solar Heat is a darling shade of tan covered with intricate geometric patterns. The overall look is just stunning. To complete this outfit I added a purse form The Secret Store (well not so secret now) The beautiful Kotar set from Finesmith and Diva heels from N-Core.

I couldn’t help myself when I saw the notice come out from Shiki and the picture of this Somnium dress in the Paradise color design was attached to the notecard. I fell in love with not only the colors but the cut of the dress itself.
Rather than me try to tell you about this dress and the uniqueness it holds, I am going to copy the information notecard for your own take on how exceptional this item truly is.
“This collection was created in collaboration with Vinn Wong, a RL artist and personal friend of Shinichi Mathy in RL. Here is some background of the artist behind the collection’s inspiration.
Vinn Wong was born Hong Kong and moved to Australia at the age of 7. He realized his love and talent for fine arts in his late teens and went on to study film at Griffith University Film School in Brisbane.
He turned to painting after realizing the medium he studied in university couldn’t fully express his emotions and satisfy his creative desires.
Vinn’s artworks are raw, unhindered and honest. When painting, Vinn likes to “let the picture paint itself” where he allows his heart to take over. Often used as a record of his emotions throughout experiences of love, hardship and other trying times, Vinn’s works are a daring revelation of himself shed of all barriers.» View author and full post…

Somnium from Shiki
The Somnium dress is the newest release from Shiki and is shown here in Oasis & Insanity. The cool, colourful print reminds me of tropical seas and warm summer nights, something I dream of often in this land of ice and snow. My hair is the free colour demo from Red Mint and my skin is the latest group gift from Al Vulo. My shoes are a new release from Redgrave called Carrie. I have blogged them before and since I love them so much, you’ll be seeing them again!
