It’s a long weekend for my avatar and I’ve got a new shop that got me beach ready in a hurry. Lacuna has released breezy maxi skirts and gorgeous toned bandeaux for sunning yourself on relaxing island days that are perfect as our thoughts turn to sunshine and the beach.

I’ve grabbed some older jewelry and accessories from Maxi Gossamer for relaxed, casual style and since the grid won’t let me change skin today, YAY another look at an older release from Belleza – AIKO.

The hair is Wasabi Pills and keeps my pixel neck from sweating.

Luckily ladies don’t sweat anyway.

With all of the photoshopping and windlighting and fancy things we bloggers do to pictures, it’s easy to forget that this isn’t the usual SL’ers experience. Some people come onto the grid and don’t even know HOW to change the lights. Personally, I remember someone teaching me how to make the sun come back as being a brilliant day. I got lamps for my SL house just FOR WHEN IT WAS DARK. I literally didn’t know what else to do.

So when I walked outside into the park near my house, in default lighting, I had this moment of realizing WOW that’s what this just looks like, without anything fancy, with nothing taxing the old graphics card – my setting was HIGH not ultra, and just the default region windlight.

It’s a testament to the quality of what I’m wearing I think, that everything skin, dress, hair etc doesn’t NEED a quick PS touch up to look pretty. If you buy these things, this is what you’re getting, without fail. No worry that I’ve changed the colors or the shape with little tweaks here or there to hide imperfections.

I think that’s great.

I have been eyeballing this bedroom set from LAQ Decor for some time. And since it has been at least, oh, a week, since I ordered new furniture I decided WHAT the heck and clicked BUY on marketplace to have it delivered. I bought the PG version, because it was slightly cheaper – I believe it was around 999L and my husband is off in Azeroth so  I won’t need a sexy times bed.

The land impact is exquisite – 6! SIX LAND IMPACT PEOPLE – for the bed. Each side table is decorated in a femme way and they are three which is incredible.

It’s loaded with lots of animations in the PG version, sitting or sleeping and there is even an under the covers version. Plus sheets, cover, pillows and wood are all color change with a click. I’ve chosen pink today, who KNOWS what I’ll choose next. It was a much deserved splurge for an admittedly spoiled avatar.

I spent a very indulgent night in these covers, it was worth every penny.

I noticed when doing my credits for this post that I have two “E” items which had me asking plurk for more. . The first is this cute leather mini from E! (see the exclamation point) which is Eclectic Apparel, the work of Eclectic Wingtips. It comes with a hud that allows you to change the metal findings from gold to silver to black and back. You also can change the upper “belt/sash” portion with several color and print options. It’s sassy and short and just the perfect choice for the new ruffled top from La Penderie de Nicole, which also comes with options, including black with several choices in contrast ruffle lining. 

I found one small problem with the skirt when I walked. It did not get along with my walk animation. I talked to Eclectic Wingtips, the designer, who has made a longer alpha so that if your AO and the skirt conflict, you can add the longer alpha. Wingtips prefers to keep the alpha as short as possible to give you more options when taking pictures.

The shoes from MiaMai are adorable with cute anklets that can be changed with the accompanying hud.

Kauna has Christmas Sweaters for men and women in all the holiday shades and patterns at faMESHed. Everyone needs a Christmas Sweater for holiday pictures, parties and holiday cheer.

Until glaucoma took away her ability to see the details, my mother knit a sweater for me every Christmas. I can remember most of them. My least favorite was a traditional Scandinavian pullover in red, white and blue she made for me when I was in 3rd grade, even then my color palette was subtler than that. My favorite was a longer tunic sweater she knit in a dark sienna with a Scandinavian knit border print from hip to mid thigh with sienna, pumpkin, cream and dark forest green. One of the most stunning was one she knit of variegated yarn that through serendipity happened to have the exact number of stitches so the yarn formed a gorgeous argyle plaid pattern on the front panel. She knit a gorgeous lacy shell one year that was so soft and made with such fine yarn I could squeeze it into a ball in one hand. The last one she made before her vision dimmed permanently was a soft dove gray, seashell pink and white Scandinavian cardigan with silver buttons.» View author and full post…

There’s a nip in the air today that asks for a big, comfy sweater. And you can find just the thing at Zenith for the With Love Hunt. This is a nice, tunic sweater with a beautiful snowflake pattern on the bottom. It also comes with a big woolen scarf to wrap around your neck that is edged with round puffballs of yard. The scarf even has a color change HUD to let you choose among the different colors in the sweater to coordinate. It’s not cold enough, though, to haul out the scarf today.

Under the sweater, I added the Maitreya leggings and shoe combo with the ultra-modern heelless shoe. I love the combination of the modern shoe with the the traditional knit pattern.

I added some jewelry from Dark Mouse which is now closed and no longer available. Sorry! I still love it though. The long gold necklace is available – and only 10L in the With Love Hunt. The hair is a new release from Alice Project.

My computer has been hobbling along lately, in need of a new graphics card and system upgrades. That is one reason why I shoot fewer pictures with shadows and projectors. I can crash if I even think about doing that. But the worst symptom is how antisocial my computer has become. Any crowd, even if I drop RenderAvatarMaxVisible to 1 overwhelms and crashes my computer. I can rez about two people before crashing, so when I DJ I zoom in on the wall so I don’t see anyone. Needless to say, huge events like the Arcade Gacha are completely off limits. I saw one item in the shopping guide that I wanted desperately. I did run around to several yard sales on this huge list of gacha yard sales, but the people who are buying the pesca stoles are keeping them. Fortunately, I get by with a little help from my friends. The red plaid stole I wore yesterday was a gift from Gidge and Sylvia Olivier dropped this and a pink version of the Pesca stoles on me. They are certainly my favorite of the Arcade Gacha treasures made even better by virtue of the generosity of friends.

One of the blessings (curses) of living in an upper floor apartment is the simple law of physics that heat rises. What that means in practical terms is that my downstairs neighbor pays for heat and I get most of it. I don’t turn on the heat. Right now it is 48°F outside (9°C) and I have two windows open and the fan running and it’s 76° in here. I imagine my downstairs neighbor as a lizard cranking up the heat and basking by the heater, warming his cold blood. It is hard to imagine a warm-blooded creature needing that much heat.

Heat rises in fashion, too, and I think the heat is bringing some really great stuff to the top at faMESHEd. Take this fabulous bodycon dress from Pink Outfitters. It’s figure hugging as any bodycon dress should be and comes in rich, saturated colors such as this fabulous eggplant. It also comes with fitted belts in silver and white. I love the long sleeves and simple round neckline that makes it perfect for big statement jewelry. My only quibble is that while dancing, there is an occasional break on the back of the legs where the leg will come through the mesh in some movements.» View author and full post…

I confess. I’m ready. The events are exploding and there is so much excitement in the air about everything that is new and amazing for the holidays this year.

I love everything about the holidays on the grid, and even on my borrowed square I’m doing a little bit of sprucing up for the happy time.

From the gorgeous elegant jewelry of Donna Flora to the insanely cute vinyl toys from Schadenfreude, there isn’t much I don’t like about this time of year.

There is an amazing advent calendar out from Trompe Loeil at the Arcade Gacha event. It has twelve doors and twelve keys, and you play the gacha for the keys. Each key opens a door, and you get the gift inside. My first gift is a beautiful pair of earrings!

I also thought my little pretend baby needed something new so I stumbled upon Sweet Penelope’s and got this casual holiday outfit for 75L ! SO CUTE!
