Face Value
Pictures can say a lot. They can evoke meaning, a feeling, a story, and even…nothing at all. I browse Flickr a lot. I browse the blogs quite a bit as well and I try to find different and unique styles that really give the items a pop or try to tell a story. I guess – when I’m looking at something, I don’t look at the face that often. Rarely does a person’s face change: unless they’ve changed hair color, eyes, or skin tone. I’ve noticed though an ongoing trend that keeps me from wanting to like a pretty decent picture. At first I didn’t realize what I was noticing, then it hit me. It’s the face. I see too much…face.
Now don’t get me wrong – most of the skins on the grid are absolutely gorgeous. They truly are. But if you’re not doing a skin post or are showing…skin (oh la la for sexy naked rawrness) and you’re showing off a new dress, or shoes, or a jewelry set that is a must have, then why am I seeing your face up close and personal? All I can think of is the camera angle of taking self-portraits for MySpace and Facebook.» View author and full post…
To be noticed
Typically when I write about my thoughts, or ideas, they seem to be a jumbled mess of things that slosh through my mind in such a way that I end up talking myself out of writing at all. When I first started to blog, I blogged just to write those words out then see if anyone would perhaps read them, and if they did then it was good, and if they didn’t then it was okay. As time went on, people actually started to read what I wrote and I ended up with a following. Followers, or those that read you, are a good thing. But then anxiety would hit and I wouldn’t know what to say and the worry of not getting a post done would come about and the thought of losing someone who followed me because of what they liked to read and see worried me so.
As humans, we like the spotlight – to have our ‘me’ moment.
After a while, I just up and stopped blogging all together and didn’t feel the draw anymore. My level of trying to please and write something of worth seemed to be ridiculous and in the end, it was just crap.» View author and full post…
Indian Summer
Being from New York, I miss a true “Indian Summer” – those days in which Autumn is among us and the weather takes a slight chill, but then all of a sudden – a heat wave comes through and the skies are on fire with the colors of turning trees while blowing in 60 – 70 degree weather. I miss those days. Now I realize that it is only the beginning of September, but I’m still getting used to a heat index of 103 here in the Memphis area. I should be starting to pull out my light sweaters and jeans, instead of flip flops and tanks. I’m such a ‘northerner’.
School is going amazing for me. It’s a lot of work, so I know that sometimes my posts will be short and sweet. I do love to blog and take pictures in Second Life, so I will fit as much as I can. It’s enjoyment you see.

One Voice, the list
Below is the most recently updated list of merchants who are generously donating their time and work to help out a fellow creator. While One Voice primarily aims at helping out Gala Phoenix raising enough funds to fight Hush in court after having been wrongfully accused of infringing on Hush’s IP, the purpose of One Voice goes beyond that. It’s a way (and I am not debating whether it’s efficient or not, any gesture works here) to speak up as a community that it’s not tolerated that a fellow member gets targeted like this, risking to lose her business over foul play which might even be considered a criminal act.
What can you as a consumer do? Buy the products these creators make available, most of them donate 100% to Gala’s legal costs and also, whenever you shop, support the original content creators of SL

My Digits part II
Brilliant idea from Strawberry Singh to revisit the digits post she did last year after the introduction of mesh. I probably should have looked at the pic from last year first before doing this year’s so there could be a more accurate comparison, but I didn’t , so here it is. [09:06] [OO] Avatar ruler 1.3: Grazia Horwitz, your avatar’s height is 174 cm (5′ 9″) counting your shoes.
What has changed most compared to last year is my butt size. Seriously?? It went up from 29 to 41!! That’s some junk in my trunk! Also, body fat went way down from 21 to 9. That is for sure a sacrifice to mesh that I did, because if I wanted to fit in a size L, I’d have to make my boobs HUGE so instead of that, I rather toned down my body fat, and fit in a S/M depending on the creator and have my boobs smallish like before.
Having said that, I love mesh, and I am pleasantly surprised how little sliders actually influence the size… or rather, how much freedom you have with the remaining sliders to make your shape still unique. I was afraid with mesh, everyone would look like clones, but even with standard sizing… this is hardly the case.» View author and full post…
