The Runway Perfect Hunt has started!

The Runway Perfect Hunt (TRPH) is one of my favorite hunts organized by pose maker Morgane Batista running from May 1- May 31, 2013. There are 50 stores and each hunt gift cost 5L each. Menswear item are available at selected store and I will have a separate blog post with the guys gifts. Because the hunt is so large, I will break the gift previews into a number of posts. Taurus Recap

My mom’s birthday was today, so I have definitely been in the Taurus frame of mind for the past few days. I’ve decided to do a recap of a few of my favorite pieces from Taurus and have a little fun with them in a collage of sorts- something I love to do!

Taurus: Like A Bull In A China Cabinet

I can’t think of a better way to start off the week than with the new cycle of Zodiac! Though I am not a Taurus, two close relatives of mine are so I am well-acquainted with the passionate stubborn streak that can come from these bull-minded, yet unique individuals. So, for those of you who are Taurus born- Happy Birthday to you all!

With my fellow bloggers pumping out one amazing post after another and my being late to the party- I thought I would take a step back and focus my pictures on furniture. Taurus, finally! If you haven’t guessed, I am a Taurus, born the last day of April. Many will tell you that we Taurean’s are very much like our symbolic bull, stubborn to the bone. That can be true, and I do have my stubborn side, as Gabby so lovingly tells me is “so cute when you are all stubborn”! At least she finds it a charming trait, right?

Being a Taurus, I am extremely loyal, protective and unwavering in my dedication to those I hold dear to my heart. You mess with them you mess with me. Once the mittens came off that is. Let’s face it, lace mittens with bows would not be practical in the frozen Northland … and nobody knits that well to make practical heavy wool look “pretty” which is why we settle for Moose heads knit into our sweaters etc. No-one critiques the art of a moose. You can fudge the nose, the antlers, the proportions , , , and people are very forgiving. They are much harsher critics for pretty or cute. Notice that most people have not included a “moose” category in their Pinterest accounts. There is a reason for that. People on the prairie look at warm sweaters and mittens with their moose motif and do the head nod …

So once the spring thaw hit and she could be accused of causing her grand daughter to lose her fingers due to frost bite, my grandmother insisted on white lace gloves. I hated them but every freaking picture of me is in a darn stupid dress AND white lace gloves. We were on the freaking prairies for crying out loud …

Built around 250 B.C.E. on the island of Alexandria, for the purpose of guiding ships into port, the Lighthouse of Alexandria stood between 400 and 450 meters high and was built by Ptolemy I shortly after Alexander the Great (who founded Alexandria) died. It was made of light colored stone in three parts; the base was large and square, with an octagonal section on top, and finally a round section which lead to the light source. During the day, a large mirror reflected the sunlight; at night a fire was kindled there. Interestingly, the builders used liquid lead as mortar in order to help the stones resist the awesome forces of the sea. It remained intact until 796 C.E., when the top section was damaged and left unrepaired, however there are reports it was still used as a lighthouse. Earthquakes finished the damage; the initial one in 956 left it still functioning, but the twin ones in 1303 and 1323 turned it into a ruin which could no longer be entered. In 1480 the last remnants of it vanished below a fort built atop the lighthouse platform by Pharoh Qaitbay using stones from it’s wreck.
